- Skillsfuture Food Manufacturing SectorWith the projected increase in the world's population to 9.7 billion by 2050, the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations expected that the demand for food would also increase correspondingly. It would be inevitable for consumers to pay more for innovative and convenient foods in accordance with societal changes.
The Food Manufacturing Industry Transformation Map (ITM) will see productivity increase by an average of 4.5%, with the creation of 2,000 new jobs for the industry by 2020. It also aims to develop Singapore into a leading food and nutrition hub in Asia by 2020.

This ITM strives to catalyze a compound annual growth rate of 4.5% in productivity and create some 2,000 new Professionals, Managers, Executives and Technicians (PMET) jobs for the Food Manufacturing industry, from now till 2020 with the vision of developing Singapore into the leading food and nutrition hub in Asia with globally-competitive food companies.
