Micro-Credentials Impact Report 2025 Insights from Students and Employers [Coursera]

Coursera’s 2025 Micro-Credentials Impact Global Report reveals that micro-credentials are rapidly reshaping education and employment worldwide, with 90% of employers willing to offer higher starting salaries-often 10–15% more-to candidates holding recognized micro-credentials, particularly those that are credit-bearing or GenAI-related.

The report, based on surveys of over 2,000 students and employers across six regions, found that 87% of employers hired at least one micro-credential holder in the past year, and 85% are more likely to hire such candidates, citing improved job performance, faster onboarding, and reduced training costs.

For students and entry-level employees, micro-credentials deliver tangible career benefits: 28% received pay raises, 21% earned promotions, and 70% reported increased productivity after earning a micro-credential, while 83% felt more confident adapting to new roles in rapidly changing industries.

The findings underscore a global shift toward skills-based hiring and learning, with both employers and students demanding flexible, industry-aligned education that keeps pace with technological and economic transformation
