IMDA refreshes Skills Framework for Media and continues to support virtual production capabilities and training
  • IMDA has been advancing Virtual Production (VP) applications in Singapore’s media industry since 2023. There have been 28 VP content projects & 650 media professionals trained.
  • There were 24,960 media professionals employed across the economy in 2023, reflecting a compound annual growth rate of 7% since 2018.
  • The refreshed Skills Framework identifies 195 job roles across 9 tracks, with 230 technical skills & competencies in existing and emerging skills.
  • IMDA will partner 7 media companies to offer over 70 apprenticeship.

In 2023, Singapore’s digital economy contributed to 17.7% of GPD ($113 billion), approx. $1 out of every $6 in the economy. It's growing at a compound annual growth rate of 11.2% from 2018 to 2023. Its impact is prevalent in both I&C and non-I&C sectors, underscoring the broad-based influence of digital technologies.

•Worldwide games industry is worth $183.9bn annually,  around 3.4 billion people globally play video games.
•Enthusiasm around in-game ads peaked during the pandemic; share of advertisers planning to increase spend on gaming has fallen by 20% since 2021.
•Mobile game app ad inventory is dominated by performance-driven endemic gaming advertisers; big brands mostly use in-game ads to drive mid- and upper-funnel goals.
•One metric where in-game ads compare favourably is attention; data shows game environments generate higher viewability and attention rates, at a more efficient cost.
